The HiNova® IN-ROW Direct Expansion (DX) Cooling Units are engineered to deliver high-efficiency, precision cooling for modern high-density server environments. Designed for continuous 24/7 operation, these systems provide targeted cooling exactly where heat is generated - between the server racks - eliminating thermal hotspots and ensuring consistent, rack-level climate control.
Built with the latest BLDC compressor technology, EC fans, and electronic expansion valves (EEVs), the HiNova® IN-ROW DX range significantly reduces energy consumption while maximizing cooling output. The intelligent airflow design ensures optimal front-to-back distribution, maintaining stable thermohydrometric conditions even under fluctuating IT loads.
To support diverse data center layouts, the IN-ROW DX units are available in both “On-Line” and “In-Line” configurations, enabling seamless integration into new or existing cold-aisle / hot-aisle architectures. Their compact footprint allows placement within standard 1200 mm rack enclosures, maximizing cooling performance without sacrificing valuable floor space.
Each unit is equipped with a sophisticated onboard microprocessor, offering complete local and remote control, comprehensive energy analytics, and predictive maintenance capabilities. Optional dual-power redundancy and controller backup ensure uninterrupted operation - a mission-critical advantage for facilities focused on uptime.
Developed specifically for IT environments where chilled-water systems are impractical or unavailable, the HiNova® IN-ROW DX units deliver the ideal balance of efficiency, performance, and total cost of ownership (TCO). Their durable construction, intelligent control logic, reduced refrigerant charge, and low-maintenance components make them one of the most reliable and cost-effective cooling strategies for high-density data centers.
Whether deployed in small facilities, edge computing, colocation spaces, or enterprise server rooms, the HiNova® IN-ROW DX range provides an intelligent, scalable cooling solution engineered to meet the demands of future-driven digital infrastructure.

Main Difference
The primary distinction between On-Line and In-Line cooling lies in the airflow and integration strategy. On-Line units direct cold air into the cold aisle and extract hot air from the hot aisle, enhancing aisle-level thermal separation and improving data center airflow management. In-Line units, on the other hand, integrate cooling directly within the rack row, distributing conditioned air locally at the equipment level for maximum proximity cooling. Both achieve high performance, but On-Line prioritizes aisle cooling efficiency, while In-Line delivers the closest cooling to the heat source for extreme rack-density environments.
Airflow Configurations
HiNova designs and manufactures units in multiple airflow configurations to suit a variety of installation environments and cooling requirements. Whether Upflow, Downflow, or Displacement, each configuration is engineered to deliver optimal air distribution and reliable performance.
